Knochenmarkspende

Heute erhielt ich einen Anruf meiner Mutter, dass man im Volksheim Blut abnehmen lassen kann, um die Spendetauglichkeit für Knochenmarkstransplantationen zu überprüfen. Der Anlass war die Leukämieerkrankung eines jungen Burschen der heuer in meiner alten Schule maturierte. Ich bin selbstverständlich sofort ins Volksheim gefahren und habe mir Blut abnehmen lassen. Die ganze Prozedur hat ungefähr 15 Minuten gedauert und war absolut schmerzfrei.

Was passiert dann? Laienhaft ausgedrückt wird anhand der Blutprobe Eigenschaften des Knochenmarks bestimmt um so eine Art genetischen Schlüssel daraus zu generieren. Wenn jemand eine Knochenmarkspende benötigt wird von dieser Person ebenfalls dieser Schlüssel generiert und in der Datenbank, in der ich nun stehe, nach einem Spender gesucht der passt.

Was passiert, wenn jemand mein Knochenmark benötigt? Dann habe ich gewonnen. Ich habe die große Ehre einem Menschen eine große Überlebenschance zu geben. Ansonsten passiert nicht viel. Vor der Spende wird man im Krankenhaus komplett durchgecheckt. Bei der Spende selbst werden aus dem Blut die benötigten Stoffe, die vorher durch Hormonbehandlung ins Blut über getreten sind, heraus gefiltert. In seltenen Ausnahmefällen ist das nicht möglich, dann muss das Knochenmark direkt aus dem Knochen entnommen werden. Auch das ist keine große Hexerei, man wird für 30 Minuten narkotisiert damit man sich nicht bewegt, nicht weil es so weh tut. Nach zwei Wochen ist das entnommene Knochenmark wieder vollständig nachgebildet.

ACHTUNG!!! Man soll es nicht glauben, aber viele Leute verwechseln Knochenmark mit Rückenmark. Hier wird nicht an der Wirbelsäule herumgepickst. Für den Spender besteht keine Gefahr gelähmt zu werden!

Mir wurde leider erst heute bewusst, dass man sich in diese Datenbank eintragen lassen und so möglicher Weise Leben retten kann. Bitte verschwende keine Zeit und mach das selbe! Es sterben Leute die leicht gerettet werden könnten! Bei dem Jungen um den es heute ging ist es so: Wird kein Spender gefunden, stirbt er zu 90%. Wird ein Spender gefunden, überlebt er zu 99%.

Übrigens: Diese Stammzellendatenbank ist Teil eines weltweiten Netzwerks. Dass moderne Computer- und Informationstechnologie, Medizin, Genetik und was noch alles für Wissenschaften geographische, kulturelle, sprachliche und sonstige Grenzen durchbrechen mit dem Ziel Menschen zu helfen treibt mir Tränen der Freude in die Augen.

Außerdem nett: “… the guns most gangs and criminals were using to kill our police officers”. Wie soll man sich das vorstellen? Die bösen Gangmitglieder geben sobald das Gesetz in Kraft ist ihre nun verbotenen Waffen bei den Behörden ab? Weil die Polizisten über den Haufen schießen geht noch, aber gegen dieses neue Gesetz verstoßen, wo sich die Herren und Damen solche Mühe gegeben haben es zu entwerfen, bringen sie nicht mehr über’s Herz?

Ein Kommentar möchte ich gerne hier zitieren:

First – this article is not about gun rights. It is about suppression of the right of free speech by institutions of higher learning – and shame on them. No matter what side of an issue you are on, you MUST support free speeach and open debate, or you lose your rights to exercise the same. What will you do if, when the next contentious issue arises, if you are on the unpopular side of the issue? Stand up for free speech, or surrender your freedom.
Second, the Supreme Court has already ruled (Heller v. Washington D.C.) that the Second Amendment is not limited to militia members – that’s a dead horse.
Third – and the result on the PA flight was?
The goal of the Concealed Carry group is not to flood campuses with unlicensed guns, but rather to allow persons who are already legally trained and licensed to carry a concealed weapon to do so on campus. Licensed CCW holders are an extremely responsible and law abiding group, with a stellar record for complying with the law. Trying to paint a grim picture of Dodge City shoot-outs is a gross distortion – critics tried the same tactic in Florida when the state legislature passed a “must issue” law, projecting armed confrontations in the street. The actual result? A sizeable drop in violent crime. When good people are armed, thugs and robbers think twice before attacking them.
Deciding to legally carry a concealed weapon is not about bravado or fear; it’s about making a very serious decision to be prepared to protect yourself and others against those who act illegally. It is not about aggression or assault, but about defense. If you do not make that distinction, you miss the entire point.
Oh, and I agree that if no bad person had an illegal gun, I wouldn’t need to carry one – so let me know when that happy state of affairs occurs, and I’ll leave mine at home. Until then, I have no intention of becoming a victim. — 6×6x6x

Author R.J. Rummel has produced a significant body of work including numerous essays and several books that deal with the subject of democide, a term he coined to describe a widely-accepted legal definition of murder that applies when perpetrated by government upon its own people. After examining about 10,000 sources over many years, Rummel estimates that governments of the world have murdered (i.e., committed democide on) approximately 262 million people in the 20th century alone. That shocking figure is no joke and, as Rummel points out, is about 7 times higher than the combat death toll from all wars fought over the same period combined. 20th Century wars were the worst in man’s history and killed almost twice as many people as “ordinary” civilian criminal murders across the globe over the same one-hundred-year span. Yet, even though “the 20th century is noted for its absolute and bloody wars,” war was not the 20th Century’s biggest killer. Democide was. Or rather government was. And the comparison was not even close.

Liberales Waffenrecht

Im aktuellen “Querschuss” fand ich ein tolles Zitat, dass die Notwendigkeit von liberalen Waffengesetzen sehr gut auf den Punkt bringt:

Da kann man nur hoffen, bzw. sich entsprechend einbringen und wählen, dass in der EU und den einzelnen Staaten bald ähnliche Waffengesetze wie in den USA erlassen werden.
